What is an area of business that is often neglected?
One of the key areas when trying to grow your business, and one that is often overlooked, is influence. You are now able to influence people’s views on your business, brand, service or product 24 hours a day through the use of digital social-media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Linked-In.
These are tools that have only recently become available and many businesses are being very slow to recognise their importance and potential.
You influence people from the moment they start communicating with your organisation, whether that be via email, telephone, a personal meeting or online. You need to consider how you influence your customers and how that will affect your prospects. Do all your team and staff have the required positive attitude to influence people in a way you would want them to?
Influencing people in a negative way can be have serious repercussions, as they will spread that message to other potential clients. Ultimately you must start the process from the top by having a positive influence on your staff so they can pass that on to the clients.
If I you were to give three top tips to businesses in general, what would they be?
The first would be have focus. If you have a clear plan and aim for your business, it will serve as a route map that will keep you on track and reduce the chance of you being distracted by side-lines that may present themselves as opportunities.
Second would be to make sure you have clearly defined leadership and everyone knows the plan. Weak leadership creates teams without focus and that stands in the way of progress.
Have belief in your business plan as a lack of commitment is a self-fulfilling prophecy of failure.
Rolling the three together, you should identify the right path for your business, make sure it’s one you fully believe in and then educate and inspire your team to help you all reach that goal together.
