The evening, organised by ex-Scotland and Harlequins scrum-half and event maestro Hugh McHardy, was a fitting end to a fantastic year for the RBN world-wide.
The highlight of the evening was John Inverdale’s chat with Chris Robshaw, in which John pulled no punches and Chris, to his eternal credit, ducked nothing.
However, on the one question we all hoped to hear, “Why didn’t you take the three points against Wales?”, Chris responded that they didn’t train for three months and then dominate a game for 65 minutes to leave with a draw. Put like that, it’s hard to disagree with his ballsy approach, to which hindsight does no favours.
If Chris needed to win over anyone in the room, he achieved that with some aplomb and we offer him our sincere thanks for supporting us.
Thanks to an array of superb donations from our partners and supporters, with lots ranging from hospitality at Twickenham to bike rides with Lions legends, an auction raised nearly £20K for our Life After Rugby programme.
A raft of new events will be announced in the New Year, so keep an eye on our website and LinkedIn group for details.
