Thanks to the RBN’s network of volunteers around the world, our ever-expanding event programme is promising yet another hectic month ahead, with leading lights from rugby and industry due to address our members.
Tomorrow evening, two ex-Wallabies, Jeff Sayle and David Carter, will be joined by Miriam Dayhew, University Ombudsman of the Charles Sturt University, at Orange’s inaugural RBN event at Union Bank Wine Bar.
The 25th of this month will see two events take place, one in Cape Town and one in Reading.
At The Cape Town Club, the RBN South Africa Chairman, Bob Skinstad, will be chatting to the combative, World Cup-winning hooker, James Dalton. Life on and off the field along with the continuing Rugby Championship will ensure there is plenty to discuss.
At the same time in Reading, Glenn Delaney, Forwards Coach at London Irish RFC, will be talking about his rugby and business careers at an event in Zest at Lime Square. The theme of the evening will be ‘Are players becoming less employable and coaches becoming more employable in business?’
The Birmingham Rugby Business Network will have two of the biggest names in the sport at their event on the 1st October. Martin Johnson CBE and Neil Back MBE will be speaking candidly about their rugby careers and business interests. It will not be an event to miss, or, come to think of it, heckle at.
Over the Channel in Paris on October 2nd, RBN France Chairman, Serge Betsen, will be joined by Didier Retière, the ex-France forwards coach, at Marriott’s Renaissance Paris La Defense Hotel.
The RBN Sydney have two fantastic speakers lined up for their October 13th event at The Rugby Club. Enrique ‘Topo’ Rodríguez, the legendary Argentine Wallaby who also played for Tahiti, will be talking about his unique playing career and work in rugby since finishing playing, including his educational programme centred on bi-polar disorder.
Topo will be joined by Councillor Angela Vithoulkas, who’s built a successful career as a small business owner, entrepreneur and keynote speaker.
The London Rugby Business Network are staging an event on October 15th, hosted by Reed Smith LLP at their Broadgate Tower offices. The theme for the event will be’ Different Leadership Styles’ and the two speakers, Martin Corry MBE and Catherine Spencer, both ex-England captains, will be offering their thoughts on the subject.
Finally, on 22nd October at the Leeds Marriott Hotel, stars from both forms of the game, namely Jamie Jones-Buchanan (Leeds Rhinos and England) and Calum Clark (Northampton Saints and England), will be sharing their playing experiences and discussing how sport team culture can be mirrored and utilised in the world of business.
What can you expect at the events? As the video below will illustrate, the answer to that is ‘anything’.
